The Edie Mourre Transcriber's Scholarship

Process

The Canadian Braille Authority will establish a scholarship in memory of Edie Mourre, a longtime member of CBA and a dedicated braille transcriber. A separate account will be created for all donations received in memory of Edie for this scholarship. This fund will be supported as an annual expenditure by CBA. Those making donations will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

Applicants

An applicant enrolled in a recognized braille transcriber's course or one registered to participate in a professional development activity directly relevant to braille transcription may apply for the Edie Mourre Transcriber's Scholarship by completing the application form available on the Canadian Braille Authority website. The successful applicant will be chosen by an ad hoc committee of the CBA comprised of three CBA Board members, one being the past president. The scholarship will be paid to the chosen recipient upon successful completion of the transcriber's course or professional development activity. The successful candidate must submit either a copy of the transcriber's certificate or confirmation of attendance with registration receipt for the professional development activity.

Scholarship

Using funds from donations in memory of Edie Mourre and those from the annual CBA surplus, an annual scholarship of up to $1000 will be awarded. Applications must be received by April 1 of the year for which the scholarship will be awarded. The successful applicant will be announced at the CBA Annual General Meeting.
